Compression
Compression is a term used in dealing with files that have been squeezed down in size using a
particular algorithm. The files can take on the form of data, images, sound, etc. Compressing a file can
be used as a means of shortening transmission time across a communications link. Another reason for
compressing files is to save space and money on storage requirements.
